One of Vadodara’s main attraction is this 120 ft tall statue of Lord Shiva which stands in the middle of the Sursagar Lake, also known as the Chand Talav Lake. The lake was rebuilt in the 18th century ans is full of water throughout the year. If the water overflows, it empties into the Vishwamitri river, through the many underwater gates that it has. The Statue is lit with lights on the day of Mahashivratri and looks picturesque especially on the full moon nights. Every year countless number of Ganesh/Durga idols are immersed here.
This morning, I joined a bunch of photographers at the Sursagar Lake for a morning photo walk and spotted a guy doing with his cleaning job at the lake. Well looking at him I thought, he was not properly equipped to do his job as he moved with the help of the wall on that floating thing made of Tin and empty drums. While he struggled but kept on moving slowly and picked up everything that he could.
I am pretty sure, it must be a due to some constraint that the guy takes up this job, but we at least can be little more responsible in keeping our environment and the beautiful places clean.
Are you contributing your part in “Swach Bharat Abhiyan” (Clean India Mission)??
While I was able to capture his story, and here I share the same with you folks. Let me know your thoughts, comments or anything that comes to your mind after going through this photo essay.
