“Aankhein milayenge darr se
Guzrenge mushkilon ke mohalle se”

A gripping movie based on real story of “Neerja Bhanot“, terrific performances by the Cast, is a must watch for one and all. After Airlift this is another movie of 2016 which will definitely lift your patriotism up. Be ready to have loads of tears run down your eyes.
I do not ever want to be in such a situation where I end up being in a plane with 350 more passengers which is hijacked by terrorists. But if at all I try to imagine, I would have never done what this hero “Neerja Bhanot” did.
“Raise your voice against injustice and never compromise on Self Respect!”
Watching the movie actually takes you to the hijack situation where you get to close to the trauma faced by the Pan Am Flight # 73 passengers. On September 5th 1986 Neerja was serving as the Chief Purser on this flight, heading to New york via Karachi from Mumbai with 361 passengers and 19 crew members. Once the four terrorists boarded the place at Karachi Airport, Neerja was quick enough to send the hijack code to the Cockpit. The three member Cockpit crew left the plane as per the protocols once the plane was hijacked so the plane was not forcibly flown.

Neerja Bhanot, a 23-year-old flight attendant, was the youngest recipient of the Ashok Chakra award for her heroic act of saving 359 lives on the hijacked Pan Am Flight 73 aircraft in 1986.
Applauds on Sonam Kapoor’s performance of “Neerja”. The story of a 23rd year old Independent women, comes back after a failed marriage and lives her dreams by doing modelling and taking up a Job with the ” Pan Am Airways“. She boards the ill-fated flight just few days before her 23rd birthday, but was shot just 2 days before on the 5th of September 1986 by the terrorists while trying to save the kids on the plane.
The parents Shabana Azmi & Yogendra Tiku are perfect and they will only make you more cry. Special Performance of Shekhar plays Sonam’s love interest in the movie has only few scenes but leaves an impact.

The movie is directed by well known Ad film maker Ram Madhvani who has earlier won a bronze and a silver lion at Cannes for the Happy Dent White commercial. His first movie as a director is Let’s Talk released in December 2002.

Beautiful review. Indian Cinema is on its upswing after Airlift and now Neerja. I’m sure that it’s going to be a great one! Although, I’ll avoid watching it. I don’t watch tearjerkers. 🙂
