You must have not probably seen a Bus Station like this in India. Vadodara’s Mega Bus station was inaugurated in Feb 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has a supermarket, shopping mall, multiplex, restaurant and food court, commercial offices, and a budget hotel on the premises. The purpose as said by Mr Modi himself was to provide airport-like facilities to the thousands of the passengers who travel by state transport buses.
The Bus station is very close to the Railway station which comes as a good relief for all the passengers as it serves many of purposes like lodging, eating, shopping, entertainment.
Reasons why it an known as “airport-like” bus station :
1)Foodcourt : People keep on gazing with surprise when they first see the food court, because its hard to believe they are not in a palace but a food court. See below.
2) Seven Screen Movie Multiplex : The Bus terminal has a seven screen PVR multiplex to entertain you in case you have some spare time before catching your bus. Go ahead, catch your favorite movie.
3) AC Dormitories : If you are searching for budget dormitories for rest and stay, you may not go elsewhere. They have good dormitories here for the travelers who are looking for budget and comfortable stays.
4) Ambience : If Modiji runs the swachch Bharat Abhiyan, you will definitely see it here. The place is super clean and the staff is working round the clock to ensure it remains the same. You may also see some boards about penalty if anyone is found Spitting.
5) Shopping : The super market allows you to get the things easily incase you want to buy something for your journey or travel.
