I first got to know about Zostel early this year in March/April 2015 when I used to spend a lot of time reading various travel blogs, before I started Blogging actively. I loved the concept and wanted to run away to any of the cities where Zostel was present just to be a Zosteler. Udaipur was a probable option for me but for some or other reason it was not happening.
Thanks to the Pushkar Fair 2015, they came up in this tiny village just a couple of months prior to the fair and I knew this was my chance. I asked few of my friends if they wanted to join, but other priorities kept them away. So this was going to be my Solo trip to Pushkar, all the way from Vadodara, some 670 kms, takes 10-12 hours. I did my Zostel booking a month back, as I knew it would go fullhouse due to the fair. I booked a bed in the 8-bed common Dorm as the female dorms were full.
I entered the Zostel premises around 9 am in the morning, and Anurag greeted me with a good morning. I was suprised to see people were sleeping in the main Hall. On asking, Anurag told me that he also slept in the Hall and after two days if I want I could also join. The check-in time was 12 o clock and I had time before I got my bed. I decided to go around and check out the place. I went to the Canteen, 2nd Floor and ordered myself a Tea. After having tea, I went to the library at the 3rd floor and again saw people sleeping there. I laughed.
Welcome to ZOSTEL!!
The first day I was the only female in the Dorm I stayed, there were a couple of foreigners, and other Indian guys. The second day a gang from Delhi joined and I got along with them very well. I spent my 3 days in Pushkar hanging out with these delhites and came back making few good friends. I bet the best people are the people you meet while travelling. Zostel is the perfect place to find such people.
Below is a Pic of mine (centre in the top row) with the Gang when we said goodbye. We were five Indians and one from Palestine.
