Have you ever encountered a person who has left a lasting impression ? Someone who is #madeofgreat? I am sharing this story about my experience with a guy I have known since few years now.
This story is my submission to the #madeofgreat Contest by Tata Motors.
I always considered myself to be an antisocial, moody and rude person until I came across this Guy, lets refer to him as Mr X.
Why Antisocial? I generally do not like to be in huge gatherings with strangers, will prefer to be with my close circle of friends who know me very well.
Why Moody? I will talk when I want to and not when people want to. Couldn’t help it but I have improved a lot these days. Yes I have.
Why Rude? Now that I am this very straightforward person, I will always speak up what I think, mostly people find it rude. This is also the reason why I prefer talking less.
Okay wait I am not going to talk about myself here, but about this Mr X.
So Mr. X’s ( an IT guy) previous employer happens to be my employer’s previous Vendor Company. I remember I first spoke to him over call, this is few years back probably in 2011 or 2012, and soon after the call I went to my colleague and asked ” Who is this Mr. X?”
Colleague – “He is the IT Operations Manager and handles this Data Center Team there.”
I could sense, the guy on the other end of the call was a young guy, somewhere in his early twenties and the thing which caught my attention was a super confident voice and some thing weird about his attitude. After this whenever I interacted with him over call it was always a brief & strictly professional call and every time I found some weirdness about the way he spoke. I used to be a little curious, but I could never find a way to find out what was wrong with him. While he worked and stayed at Ahmedabad, I remember him coming for official visits few times, to my office in Vadodara. He would come, meet my manager, get this work done and leave. My interaction with him was a just like a Client – Vendor sorts of which was hardly 5-6 times over Call. This continued till late 2014, till he shifted from Ahmedabad to Vadodara as he left that company and had a job change. By November 2014 we were living in the same residential flats, just few minutes walk from each other’s place.
During this time from what I observed him, I was able to make out that he was not someone who would connect with people instantly, or make many friends or greet people on seeing them. It took some time to connect with him and get in to his circle of people so I could put my questions to him. Below is his story as narrated to me.
Mr X, lived in hyderabad, lost his parents in a Car crash at the age of 11 in the year 2000. He has a younger brother two years younger than him. When none of his relatives came forward for any sort of help, the principal of his school arranged for their stay in a room in the school compound, where both the brothers continued to live for next two years alone. During this time, he worked in telephone booths, Bakery shops to make some money. Next two years they managed to find a sponsor who took care of their expenses and lived with them in Secunderabad. Both the brothers who lived a lavish life while their parents were alive as their father was posted in BOI as a Manager and mother as Assistant Manager in the Telangana Spinning and Weaving Mills back in 1997, had to face the worst days of their life in the next few years. They moved to a Orphanage in Nellore in the year 2004 where getting daily meals was difficult as the Orphanage did not have good donors in those days. After this he left the Orphanage, while his brother continued to live there and did his schooling. He started working at a Tea stall at Chennai, did mobile repairing, and finally his good english skills got him a job in a Call Centre. From there on he moved to Delhi, Mumbai and finally reached Ahmedabad in 2008 and started his career in IT.
- From earning Rs 1500/- at the Call Centre in 2008 to drawing a 7 figure yearly package now in 2015 at 26, handling the Global IT Operations of various countries, he has 71 Microsoft certifications to his credit.
- He tries his best to give the similar lavish life to his brother as given by his parents, who is now doing his ME in Ohio, US.
- He goes every year to the Orphanage and is in touch with everyone who came into his life at any stage, from the Tea Vendor to the donors he lived with.
- Donates every month some fund to the Blind People Association.
I go back and could only think of watching Duck Tales and Tale-spin as a ten year old or getting into cat fights with my sister. I get goosebumps putting myself into such a situation, thinking would I have been able to reach anywhere close to where he is today. After listening to his story I probably had all the answers of why he was not like any other 25 year old guy, why this attitude? or why so antisocial? It is the unexpected tragic situations which probably changed his life overnight, but toiling hard and being an Opportunist brought him where he is today. He still continues to work with the same spirited passion and wants to try new things to fulfill his interests and career dreams. He also wants to adopt a kid from the orphanage once he is married.
He is one #madeofgreat man I have encountered in my life. My Take aways from his Life are :
- Don’t take anything for granted.
- Be happy with what you have.
- To get success you have to be different, maintain a disciplined life and follow it.
- If you have a family around you, you are lucky, respect them.
“Self Excellence” and “Self Belief” will take you to any heights you want to, just like Lionel Messi – #madeofgreat Man who is now the Global Brand Ambassador of Tata Motors.

When it comes to impact and impacting millions of lives, Yes, we can see both Tata Motors and Lionel Messi being the pioneers here. While the very name Tata is enough to make us go back to all our history books where we have seen there hardly is a comparable name that has contributed so much to the society in such an ethical manner, the very name Messi conjures up images of a boy-man who has turned the world upside down with his talent, determination, discipline and never-give-up spirit. The compatibility between the values they both share is intense and that is the reason this partnership works perfectly.
With a concern for the society at large,everything that Tata has done has inspired us to dream big, conquer the world and pour all our energy back into the society to do good and inspire good. By facing his demons, Messi has done the same. He enjoys a God-like status in the world today because he dared to dream, achieved the sky and still hasn’t lost his humanity a bit. He is still a child at heart and he gives back with his multiple philanthropic activities just like Tata does!
Talk to any person in India, ask them about the companies they admire the most. Tata is right there at the top. This name is beyond bottomline, spreadsheets, return on investment and share price. It is equivalent to soul of India-soft, kind, diverse, dynamic, eternal. Just like that Messi has emerged as not just another football player but someone whose very life is an inspiration, whose personal struggles are a template for others to emulate and who has morphed into an eternal legend.
While it would take eons to write about what makes Tata Motors and Messi great, as their list of achievements is too long for us to even skim over, suffice to say that this partnership is for the ages. As they say, some things are made in heaven 🙂

Tata Motors’ association with Lionel Messi is undoubtedly #madeofgreat! Tata Motors known as a maestro in Auto industry, and it’s not any surprise that they would like to make bound with another maestro, iconic figure Messi! No one can say, it is just for publicity or a trick to attract a particular generation, by teamed with Celeb branding; it is very natural and rightly to make a bond in two great – Tata Motors and Lionel Messi. And, if you ask me; I’m a fan of both, so it’s perfectly #madeofgreat for me!

Of the thousands of thoughts moving around the Messi-Tata Motors association, here’s a new insight. Messi is also the ambassador for UNICEF for his noble deeds for the betterment of children across the globe. That’s something that truly touched me, more than the football legend in him. Several Mr.Xs will be comforted. On the other side, our Tata Motors could think of making several Indian middle class dreams alive with their Nano. Definitely there’s a touch of humanity behind this. Their association sound to me like humanity meets humanity!

The association of Tata Motors with Lionel Messi is that of two greats. Lionel Messi has been exceptionally talented who with his hard work, determination and sacrifices has got better and tougher in his chosen sport so is the Image, reputation and quality of TATA Motors that have transformed brilliant ideas into masterpieces of engineering and created a brand and products that we are so proud of as Indians. Lionel Messi has transformed his body and the mind body co-ordination into a masterpiece of precision and excellence it would not be wrong to say that Lionel Messi is the TATA Motors of sports where as TATA Motors is the Lionel Messi of vehicles both giants in their own spheres driven by the drive to excel and lead by example. So Lionel Messi is the best choice for becoming the brand Ambassador for TATA Motors

Tata Motors’ association with Lionel Messi spells a significantly notable alliance that will steer the company towards favourable benefits. I always acknowledge Tata Motors as a distinctive name in Auto industry, which will not let the success ‘larger-than life’ elude from its fate now with a timeless guild with iconic figure Messi. I don’t see this union of Tata Motors as an aspirational effort for garnering some quick publicity and evoke specific reaction from myriad crowd with Celeb branding, but is rightly an embellished handshake for keeping up the pace to get to the pinnacle of success graph. To sum things up, I am joyous to see the brand and the star uniting for ‘One in a Million’ #madeofgreat power-packed drive ahead 🙂

Messi is another such personality who never ceases to admire everybody. Having overcome health obstacles at a very young age, he is now at the pinnacle of sports achievements. The way he has gone from height to height has motivated many like me to achieve the impossible. Now, coming together with Tata Motors, a brand that is based on decades of trust, integrity and dignity, Messi will surely create more magic. This is what I think about their association
Tata Motors has gained the goodwill from giving the best and innovative Automobiles and it is also known as one the best Automobile Manufactures. And if you see the Lionel Messi , his throughout dedication, zeal , targeted goal of life and technically soundness make him big, achiever and remarkable position in the world.
As per me, the association of Tata Motors and Messi is a grand amalgamation of two legendary entities of the world, and their amalgamation will definitely break down the clutters and affect the cut throat competition of Tata Motors. Tata motors will sure get a huge preference by the fans of Messi. This will sure make a record of Tata motors in the world of production or may be the highest selling automobiles.
Tata motor’s main target is to give an impression on the large amount of crowd and this can be achieved only through the Messi, because the youth generation is crazy for MESSI and this can be smart move and a great achievement for Tata Motors they positioned MESSI as their BRAND AMBASSADOR .
