This morning while I was going through my Picasa Library, I went across Udaipur photos, trip that I took 3 years back with family. Going through the pictures I was quick enough to tell my mom, just sitting beside me having her morning tea, ” I am going to run to Udaipur soon” and she was like ” Go you are Mad” 😉 I like this madness which drives me to new places. But there are few destinations where you want to go again and again and Udaipur is one, So why Udaipur again?
I went through the album and finally could think of below reasons of why it will make it to your “Once again” list of places.
- Go Desi
The colors, freshness, fragrance, food, people every bit of Udaipur is totally Indian. So when I say “Indian”, I mean it depicts our Indian culture in the most stylish way. Indian and stylish, that’s the irony of the place. The reason why you see so many foreigners throng here and pick up Udaipur and other cities of Rajasthan when they plan their visit to India.
2. Go Solo
Udaipur is one of the safe cities in India where you can travel alone, catch up with the travellers coming from various corners of the world and get a taste of their culture. There are some very good hostels for backpackers and solo travellers in the city and staying at these hostels is pure fun. I am soon going to discover them personally and come back with the reviews. I so much want to go and sit at the Gangaur Ghat early morning and see how the sunrise looks from there 🙂
3. Perfect family Getaway
The city of Lakes and palaces is a perfect trip to make with the family. You can spend your time around the picturesque pichola lake, Fateh Sagar, Udai Sagar, Jaisamand and the Dudh Talai Lake. Then there are very beautiful and ancient temples, havelis and the gardens to add more to your lists. Do not give a miss to the Great wall of India – the Kumbalgarh Fort.
If you do not want to plan, you can book your seats with the private buses that offer day trips and show you around all the must to see places of the city, that’s exactly what we did when I was here with my family. This way you also get along and connect with fellow travellers.
4) Food and Shopping
Do I need to explain here? 😀
There’s so much to shop here, from the traditional dresses, kurtas, bags, to jootis that you end up buying extra bags, but you are still not done with the shopping.
Rajasthani food is fantastic, if you like Indian food you will love it anyday. Some of the special dishes are below:
- Balushahi
- Churma
- Dalbati
- Besan Chakki
- Feeni
- Ghevar
- Gujia
- Sev Tamatar
- Makki ki Saag
- Kadhi and many more
So you need more reasons?? See the pictures below and pack your bags to Udaipur.
All these pictures are from my trip 3 years back.
